The lastest research of Space Weather Team shows on Nature
Nov 29 2007, Prof. Zhang Tielong, a scientist from Space Research Institute, AAS and also a member of Space Weather Team, CAS, publishes a paper titled as "Little or no solar wind enters Venus' atmosphere at solar minimum" on Nature(2007,vol 450). Prof. Shi Jiankui and Prof. Wang Chi, two members of our lab, take part in the project, too.
The paper reports Prof. Zhang's lastest achievement about magnetic field measurement from Venus Express spacecraft in the plasma enviorment surrounding Venus. The paper shows the bow shock under low solar activity conditions seems to be in the position that would be expected from a complete deflection by a magnetized ionosphere10, therefore little solar wind enters the Venus ionosphere even at solar minimum.
